ESSENTIALITY OVERVIEW

Pursuant to Section 1.17 of the HEVC/VVC Patent Portfolio License, "HEVC Standard" shall mean the visual standard defined in International Standard ISO/IEC 23008-2:2013(E), ITU-T Recommendation H.265 (04/2013), Recommendation ITU-T H.265 v2 (10/2014),  Recommendation ITU-T H.265 v3 (04/2015), Recommendation ITU-T H.265 v5 (02/2018), and/or Recommendation ITU-T H.265 v8 (08/2021).

Pursuant to Section 1.31 of the HEVC/VVC Patent Portfolio License, "VVC Standard" shall mean the visual standard defined in Recommendation ITU-T H.266 Versatile Video Coding (08/2020), Recommendation ITU-T H.266 Versatile Video Coding (04/2022), and/or ISO/IEC 23090-3 Information technology - Coded representation of immersive media - Part 3: Versatile Video Coding; and Recommendation ITU-T H.274 Versatile supplemental enhancement information messages for coded video bitstreams (08/2020) and/or Recommendation ITU-T H.274 Versatile supplemental enhancement information messages for coded video bitstreams (05/2022) to the extent used with Recommendation ITU-T H.266 Versatile Video Coding (08/2020), Recommendation ITU-T H.266 Versatile Video Coding (04/2022), and/or ISO/IEC 23090-3 Information technology - Coded representation of immersive media - Part 3: Versatile Video Coding.  VVC Standard shall not include Recommendation ITU-T H.273, Coding-independent code points for video signal type identification or ISO/IEC 23091-2, Coding-independent code points - Part 2: Video.
