The Accounting Analyst/Staff Accountant supports all aspects of business as usual finance and accounting processes and reporting. This position plays a key role within the Accounting group and its functions which include, but are not limited to, Royalty Accounting, Cash Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Foreign Employee Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Tax Accounting. Core responsibilities are to work collaboratively with the organization in various elements of the general accounting function, including all aspects of the financial closing process and monthly/quarterly financial reporting to management, and review and presentation of the balance sheet and income statement accounts. This role contributes collaboratively to ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures and internal controls. This role also works cross functionally in all key operations initiatives to identify finance and accounting related issues within the business and implement solutions. This hybrid role requires to work in the Greenwood Village office three days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a key role in actively supporting processes of the monthly and quarterly financial close to ensure its accuracy, integrity, and timeliness. Accounting functions include GL/AR/AP, intercompany transactions, royalty revenue and payout cycle, customer credits and collections, general and entity accounting, and cost accounting. Includes preparing journal entries to support close activities and perform regular account reconciliations, and provide other analyses as requested including Balance Sheet and P&L flux. All assignments include ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely and strategically with Via’s Compliance and Royalty Teams for monthly and quarterly month end deliverables, also providing adhoc support as needed.
- Prepare initial fee and patent evaluation fee invoice requests. Prepare monthly billing of reimbursable expenses.
- Review, record, and amortize accrued liabilities, expenses, and revenues on a monthly basis.
- Perform various closing duties for assigned area and other areas as needed, including preparation and review of work, reconciliations, systems functions, etc. Work must be performed with sufficient accuracy and autonomy to ensure compliance with quarter-close SOX controls.
- Resolve any systems issues affecting assigned area and partner with IT on development and most efficient use of IT systems.
- Assist external and internal auditors as deemed necessary.
- Collaborate and partner with cross functional teams to influence best practices.
- Assist in preparation of internal executive review summaries for quarterly senior management financial statement review procedures as needed.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- BS with concentration in Accounting or Finance highly desired.
- 1+ years accounting experience, preferably with a Partnership or Public Company.
- General understanding of US GAAP accounting and familiarity with revenue recognition guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively apply principles of accounting in a business environment gained through experience.
- Must be highly motivated, with high degree of accuracy, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and organize work to meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Positive attitude, with a strong initiative to learn, and ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner to all different levels throughout the organization.
- Excellent computer skills: MS Office and MS Excel which is heavily used to complete many of the job functions listed above.
- SAP experience a plus.
The Denver Area base salary range for this full-time position is $68,000 – $81,000 and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
