MPEG LA Files Amicus Curiae Brief in the Case of Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. v. Avanci

DENVER, CO, US – 27 April 2021 – On April 26, 2021, MPEG LA filed a brief as amicus curiae (friend of the court) before the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. v. Avanci.  The brief focuses on MPEG LA’s history demonstrating that licensing at the end product level is integral to the structure of modern-day patent pools and the market benefits they provide, and argued that requiring patent pools to license all levels of the supply chain would threaten the viability of patent pools to benefit the market.
